The only regulation in place for house inspectors is by using the New Zealand Standards NZS4306-2005. This gives customers the only recourse in the event that a mistake has been made in a report.

There are organisations that inspectors can be members of at their choice, but these organisations take no responsibility for the actions of inspectors nor do they have recognised training systems.

Hopefully in time ALL house inspectors will be registered.
